Mindfulness and Parenting
For me, mindful parenting is not about being still, calm and at peace all of the time. Although, I was likely attracted to this notion of mindful parenting because I can easily follow a plan that involves stillness and all things quiet. However, the more I learn and the more I practice parenting mindfully (and mindfully fail), I have come to realize that the heart of mindful parenting is being present. It is about fully being with all of the guilt, joy, sorrow, expectations -- those met and those dashed -- milestones, and happiness.
Using an established curriculum, I teach mindful parenting classes to large groups. In addition, I assist parents in finding the right resources that fit their approach to parenting mindfully.
